June Staff Spotlight
Several months ago, we began a company-wide newsletter for our key staff and started to highlight different staff members each month.
Meet our June Staff Spotlight:
Madi Carrell
How long have you been working for BTTS, and what is your role?
1 year! I cover new corporate, social, and nonprofit event sales in the Suburbs Zone (WatersEdge, Brookshire, The Estate, and Darby House.)
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Each day is different! I work with a wide variety of clients across many venues, so it keeps things interesting. Some days, I’m at multiple venues for tours, and others, I’m stationed at our Westerville office working on leads and follow-ups. I love the thrill of the chase when it comes to sales and the feeling when a client says yes to booking with us is the best. I really love my BTTS teammates too – truly look forward to coming to work every day and a huge piece of that is the people I get to work alongside!
What does BTTS mean to you?
Outward Focus – service is at the forefront of everything we do in our industry, but BTTS means that on a heart level - shifting focus away from ourselves and onto others; being servant-hearted in all that we do. It can be the smallest thing that makes someone’s day! To me, BTTS servant-heartedness means that we are committed to thoughtful and intentional care of our clients, coworkers, and community, resulting in a positive impact on whoever we are interacting with – that’s the best job in the world right there if you ask me!
What is something that most people might not know about you?
Before BTTS, many people in my life knew me as The Pizza Queen 🍕👑– for some reason, my love for pizza became a pillar of who I am in the eyes of those who really knew me, and I did not stop them. What a lovely thing to be associated with! If a friend or family member was eating pizza, I often got messages like “Having pizza tonight, thought of you!” or any pizza gif, meme, or video – straight to me 😂I started a pizza Instagram account (it has since been archived, sorry to disappoint) and hosted annual National Pizza Day parties featuring pizza themed décor, snacks, desserts, games…you name it. If you ask me about it next time you see me, I’ll show you some photos. I’ve slowly stepped out of the pizza spotlight, but my love for pizza continues. Lately my favorite in Columbus has been Mama Mimi’s Take N’ Bake – I want my food to be scalding hot (bonus fact about me), so I don’t mind baking it at home one bit.
If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
Teleportation – there are just too many places I want to visit and not enough time! I’d also absolutely use it for day-to-day teleportation to and from our venues, avoiding any commuting/traffic, and making sure I never miss happy hour time windows.
What do you recommend? (anything!)
Joining a book club! I’ve always enjoyed reading, but this has challenged me to read books I wouldn’t normally pick and commit to actually finishing books I’ve started (anyone else relate? 😅) I would also recommend buying a Kindle because it has absolutely changed the game for me, and I am flying through books more than ever before. 2 must-have apps if you’re a reader: Libby (can borrow eBooks + audiobooks for free) and/or your local library app + Goodreads to track and review your books. Here are some of my ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reads: The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, The Maid by Nita Prose, Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano, and The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger. Currently reading Where the Crawdads Sing and have a feeling it’s going to be another to add to the list!
